Over-torquing is only part of the problem. Uneven torquing that results from using an air wrench to fasten the lug nuts is the cause of many warped rotors.

The best method is hand-tightening with a torque wrench. If the technician resists, then ask the technician to inatall a torque stick on the air wrench.
