Honestly, the engine, transmission and axles are probably the least of your problems. You're looking at lots of welding and cutting into the chassis to make room for either a drive shaft if you go FR or holes for your drive axles if you make it RR. Plus you have to machine mounts and linkages, and possibly new uprights and suspension components for the rear to accomodate drive components. Don't forget you're going to reroute your fuel tank (since you will probably need to go through that area to get to the wheels), your exhaust, any accessories like power steering and AC and your radiator hoses, and all the electrical stuff. Oh yeah, you're going to have to figure out how to get intake air to the engine too or otherwise it's just not gonna run.
Now in my experience machining and welding is a good $50 an hour. You're looking at lots of hours. I hope you have deep pockets or a mill, lathe, and TIG welder.
And since we're putting in engine requests, I guess I'd stick a WRX engine in the back.
