Because my car doesn't have VTEC, I'm not an expert on the topic. But from what I've gathered from reading threads and stuff, VTEC is system in the ECU that changes the timing of the valves at a given RPM (around 5000-5500), giving the motor a bit of a power boost. Not a huge power boost, barely noticeable on an unmodified motor.
