Air suspension will (in my opinion) not replace a good coilover/shock setup.

First it's extra weight (tank, hoses, air suspension), and for racing applications you want a lighter car NOT heavier. Secondly I believe coilover suspensions adapt quicker than air would. Imagine fluid running through hoses and how long that would take to respond to changing suspension on the road.
