i adjusted the valve lashes on my car bc of a tapping noise the engine made when it was idling. the noise was kind of irregular, but after i adjusted all of the valves, the noise became lounder, but very balanced. it sounds less like a diesel engine. i thought that either i did it right, and the tapping is being cause by something else, there are a few other problems listed in my manual as possible causes; or else i did it wrong. my firned and i just took the head off of his toyota celica, and when we were looking at his cylinders, i realized that they were1234 when we were looking at them. so i thought that i might have screwed up by adjusting the # 4 cylinder when # 1 was at TDC etc.. anyways. i apreciate you guys letting me know. the only reference i saw on the engine or in my manual were the numbers on the caps holding the cam down. but they went from 1-5 so i knew it couldnt be the cylinder numbers. thanx again.
