Undesireable rpm changes
Hello,
I have a '90 integra gs automatic w/approx 150k miles. It has two particularly irritating habits. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
1st problem: the car surges rpm at idle between about 900 and 1100 (when stopped) continuously
2nd problem: the car almost dies at startup; it starts up fine peaks at about 1500 rpm then dives down to 200-300 rpm and almost stalls. Then recovers and begins aforementioned problem. Does this consistently.
Also; car has developed intermittent starting problem when hot; will not start (starts then dies and feels like a plug wire is loose)however if I let sit for approx 2 minutes it starts and runs fine. Any attempts before 2 minutes and it won't run. I noticed the (I believe) ground wire that attaches to two bolts on the valve cover is getting hard and brittle; not sure if this is related to the problem.
Background: have replaced within last year; plugs, wires, cap, fuel filter (on firewall), and air filter. NGK plugs & wires, NAPA cap & fuel filter. Did not replace the rotor but cleaned it off with a wire brush.
Thank you kindly for any and all help
Cordially,
paul
