I think we'd have to see the smoke to gauge how bad a sign it is.

A lot of ITR smoke for a very long time before something actually breaks.

People can cause smoking and burning in an otherwise healthy motor by changing to synthetic oil or back to dino oil, too.

My own ITR smoked for a whole year before it finally burned a piston.
