In some Vans, SUV's, etc... it can be found as low as 100-110 mph. I wish I knew of a specific example. However, one must also consider the fact that the "average" car produced these days is much more powerful and safer than the same a few years ago. As far as dropping the speed limiter to 70 or 75 MPH, I just firmly believe that's a stupid idea. Say your wife's about to deliver your new baby RIGHT NOW. I dont care what people say, I'm getting her to the hospital RIGHT NOW... even if I have to do 100 on the interstate. I'll pull over for him at the ER entrance.

This is of course, and extreme case.
I understand what you are saying. 2 Years ago my sister was held hostage at her college and I was on the highway when I found out. I think I averaged 110MPH on my way there and could have cared less, and much less stopped had a cop seen me.
