I have a whole new respect for people who come to this country and actually learn the language. I went to Korea and all the foreigners (american, canadian etc.) new absolutely NO korean, no matter how long they were there (years mind you) and they had no desire to learn it. There were some exceptions, but for the most part, the foreigners thought they were too good to learn the language. The few shyt words they did know (or thought they knew) was good enough for them and it pissed them off when nobody understood what the fuq they were saying.
The people there were so open and wanted to help me out with what I needed. In America, people have no tollerance for those that are trying to learn, but aren't quite there yet. I used to have that attitude, but now I don't. I try to understand them and if I don't, I don't make them feel stupid for trying. It's hard. :happysad:
