The resonator is that wide part of the exhaust that looks a bit different in the rest. A resonator is really only there to quiet the exhaust.

I highly recommend keeping if not adding a longer resonator if you plan to do a custom setup. I had no resonator for a while and you could hear me coming for miles. Way too loud!
