The following is from KMFDM (you should pm him with questions, he's done this):

masking: first of all make sure to do a nice masking job, i left the tape a couple millimeters away from the moldings so i made sure nothing was left black.

promoter: i used 2 layers of promoter before the paint, do them 3-5 minutes apart, and paint 5 minutes after the second coat, if you wait too long, it loses its effect.

paint: make sure to do multiple THIN layers. the last thing you want is drips, remember, you can always go over with more layers, but you cant fix drips very well.

clearcoat: i used 2 layers, anything goes here

that's pretty much it, when i took of the tape it left some line of sticky shit(bad tape) i waited a while to make sure the paint was completely dried, then took a towel or something to rub off the tape residue.
