Well, if you really wanted to dig back into history, it began with "rice rocket" and even moreso "rice burner." It was originally used to reference early Japanese imported motorcycles, before Honda even seriously started making cars in the late 60's/early 70's. Hang around some old greasy bikers and the term "riceburner" is still in common use.

But seriously guys, he's asking for common usage on the board, which has nothing to do with philosophy or old motorbikes.

And PoohBoi, I never said Z3's where rice, just Z3 fenders in aftermarket non-Z3 applications. Big difference. While I'm on the topic, a Civic has no practical need for one of those big aluminum spoilers at 90mph, and I'm obviously not talking about sponsor stickers.
