The term "ricer" originated from people calling anyone with a modified asian imported car. Whether it was tastfully done or not, if it was a fixed up honda, toyota, mitsu, kia, etc... it was considered a "rice rocket". The term "ricer" originated from the term "rice rocket". If you were the driver/owner of a rice rocket you were considered a ricer. As the import scene grew bigger the term rice rocket and ricer became more loosely used. Now a days people use the word rice to describe anything done to a car that has poor taste to thier eyes.

I remember back in the days I hung out with the younger siblings of the import car owners. They are pretty much the Pioneers of import street racing in SD. We always looked up to those guys and they have influenced us younger siblings (new genereation) to get into cars. I remember them using the term rice rocket and it being meant as a honda on steelies. Back in the days if you were running 14's you were the shit. So yeah guys before you go off telling this guy what ricer means, go back to your roots and try to remember where it all came from.
Exactly, one of the only ppl that knows the actualy meaning. So wat if someone likes altezzas or bodykits? its thr car not urs, so they shouldnt hav to listen to ur opnion. I even wanted altezzas on my car, its like thrs rules in building a car. America=freedom of speech, the freedom to express urself freely.

i thought the rice rocket was the v-tec engine because such a little motor could rev so high...
