Doing it to my DSM... The oil filter on a DSM is right next to the exhaust and very close to the exhaust housing on the turbo. I'm putting on a 3" turbo-back and sort of need it for clearance reasons, and to reduce heat transfer.

Aren't Honda oil filters on the back of the block regardless of B or D series? If so, you wouldn't have that problem, and I'd think it's unnecessary.
