Something I posted in the basement...
If you think you don't have the opportunity to race you are vastly mistaken. We all do and it takes the initiative to find out and partake in it. There is autoxing which is held almost all year round in most ciities, if your town is too small find a place that is holding an event and drive there. There is the local drag strips that you can race at when they are not being used for major events. There are the go kart places that most decently sized towns have. Then there is the SCCA showroom stock class B and C. All it takes is a SCCA license and your regular car with safety gear like roll bars/cages, etc. They have regional competitions culminating in the big Run offs at Mid Ohio. Get in your car and drive down, take part in it you might wreck your car of get your butt kicked. But its cheaper than losing a life or the expenses of wrecking someone elses car street racing or the fines involved with it. Eventually someone at the SCCA events is gonna like what you do and talk to you about working for him.
Don't give me the reasons "I don't have the opportunity" you do its just that you don't avail of it. But, if you want to kill yourself then go ahead and go street racing your life probably isn't worth anything.
