i never really believed in giving money to the poor...my parents work as cashiers in a convenient store..i am tempted to ask them for some foodstamps and hand that out instead....or give out food instead...but i know the homeless people w/the signs "homeless and hungry" will get mad at me because it's NOT cash..so they cant buy alki or cigs or more drugs 
:werd: my grandma lives in SF and always gives a little money to the homeless people she sees, but that always makes me nervous. one time i had just bought a sandwich at a deli and offered it to this guy who was begging for money and he made a face and said, "what the hell do i want with a sandwich?!"
