that's exactly what I did, because my first head unit was also a Kenwood, and when I put the mp3 reciever in, I stayed with Kenwood. The wiring was all the same and all I had to do was plug it in. However, if you're going from a stock head unit to aftermarket, you WILL need to wire it up properly. If you do not get the unit from Crutchfield, at least call them and tell that what unit you have, and what car you're putting it into. They will send you EVERYTHING you need to do it CORRECTLY.
