I think it is amusing the amount of people that responded with 'fat people aren't ugly' comments, even though Wannaplay didn't say anything about that.
It is 100% American culture. You can't blame it on genetics either. I see all of them in my store... 350 pounds, 5'6", and their children are a perfectly healthy weight. And then they buy $10 worth of candy for their child.
Either that, or it is the adult of normal weight with a 5th grader that weighs more than me.
Quite frankly, for me, it isn't about looks, its about being RIDICULOUSLY unhealthy. Look at France, Italy, Germany... all countries that pride themselves on their food and they eat a TON. A proper French dinner lasts 3 hours. All restaurants are open until midnight. I've never seen anyone eat so much in my life! And yet, they are a healthy weight. Why? Because of what they eat and how they eat it! You can eat all you want and keep a good weight, as long as you aren't having hamburgers, chips, fries, candy, and cola all the time.
