I thought 6th gen autos were completely different from 5th gens...especially since the 6th gens have a rocky track record for tranny failure. I change AT fluid in my 1996 Accord every 35k miles (drain and refill, no flushes) and no problems so far in 100k+ miles. 5th gens tend to shift a bit rough, but it's completely normal. If the transmission are the same, did they just use better stuff in the 5th gens?
how rough are we talking about? like jerking from 1st to 2nd? when you put in into gear the whole car likemoves foward (while still applying to the brakes)?
