New roommate for me
So as I guess is common knowledge, right now I have a chick roommate named Jackie. The basic situation is that I kind of got stuck with a 3-bedroom apt for this school year and needed to sublet out the two other bedrooms so she's subletting one of them. At the beginning of the school year she had asked for the sublet agreement to be only for this semester because it's a bit pricey for her means and she would try to find something cheaper for springtime.
Back in like mid November she told me that she found a new place for next semester. So I had to go around not only trying to hopefully find one person to use up the still-unrented third bedroom, but I also had to find someone to replace Jackie. I didn't view this as too bad however, because I was giving her a 70 dollar per month discount already since I was kind of desperate to get at least some of the place rented out before this semester started.
So, I put up all the sublet ads and stuff, and got not a single reply. Kind of odd. It just so happened that my friend Jeremy was looking for a place for next semester and I mentioned to him that Jackie was moving out. He said he was interested but was also looking at a couple other places. I hadn't gotten a firm commitment out of him as of this weekend and I still hadn't found anyone else. Today I called him up and asked what his plans for next semester were and he said he was hopefully going to live with me. I went to the landlord to pay my rent today and got sublet papers for Jeremy also. He's even going to pay the full rent for that bedroom. An added benefit is he has a car and works with me so I can get rides with him on the nights he's working and to like, the grocery store and stuff like that.
I'm glad that yet another almost-catastrophic situation (i.e. I would have a 3-bedroom apartment to pay for) has somehow miraculously managed to work itself out.
