doing adsl installs i use dos (command prompt) practically every day

ipconfig/all - ipconfig/release - ip/renew - ping our modem or router's default gateway ip - & ping a website

i do this on practically every install or repair. it's a great troubleshhoting tool. i have even used it to show customers that they have a corrupted internet explorer when it'll ping a website by ip address but not www address. (this never happens because windows never gets corrupted )
