Personal review of Bridgstone Blizzak LM-22
Hey all just wanted to give everybody and anybody interested a personal review/ opinion of the Bridgstone Blizzak LM-22 series high performance winter tire. These are on an '03 Acura RSX Type S, in OEM size. (205/55/R16) The cost was $133 per tire with mounting and balancing.
They are supposed to be a winter tire that maintains dry weather standards, as well as bettering cornering stability, hydroplaning resistance, wet traction/handling etc. for a truely snow/ice dedicated tire. They were just mounted on the car yesterday (Saturday) and it was completely dry out. They are only slightly louder believe it or not over the stock Michelin's. Although we didn't drive it too aggressively to be able to really see how they perform when taken to higher extremes around corners, the ride quality doesn't appear to be in any way significantly lessened. Update, will be more on dry weather performance when time and conditions allow.
The following day, today (Sunday), it started snowing and are expecting anywhere from 8-12+ inches by Monday morn. We took the car out around 2 pm with completely snow-covered roads with approximately 4-5 inches on the ground. We drove about 10 miles. The tires performed very well, loosing grip maybe only 3 or 4 times, only for maybe a second or two quickly regaining, and only because I gave more throttle at too high of RPM's. Shifted up a gear or two maintained lower RPM's hence less torque to the wheels and experienced absolutely no problems whatsoever for the remainder of the trip.
Generally we're pleased with the choice in tire. According to reviews the new Dunlop WinterSport M3 snow tires are the best out there and for a lesser price. Unfortunately when doing a search on TireRack.com they didn't even have the OEM size for that tire. Will suffice for our needs.
