Well as the name implys, physical memory is the actual memory. Physical RAM. It's fast.

Virtual ram is just a small portion of the hard drive that's used as if it were RAM, it's slower but there's a lot more. The only time virtual ram is used is if you run out of physical ram. If your running out of physical ram you'll see the hard drive light going a lot and things will be slower. You need more RAM.
