Yeah!!! My first car was a $600 1982 Volvo 240 DL, the sedan, not the wagon. It was a pretty sweet ride - like a good friend. Had so many "quirks"... things I probably wouldn't have put up with in a Buick or Ford or whatnot, but just chaulked up to "Hey, it's a Swede, what can you do?"
I remember once getting all curious and completely tearing out the dash, center console, all of it. When I saw how Volvo did their stock wiring in 1982... whoever was their electrical engineer should be forced to shovel dung for the rest of his or her natural life. Worst electrical design since the Lucas electrics in British cars. Poor insulation, wires maybe an inch from crossing or shorting, grounds that were in areas were water from snow or rain tracked into the car by feet would easily rust then, just AWFUL. And they came through the firewall in the most illogical places...

man do i second that! their insulation sucks! oh well, gotta love the volvo, here's mine:
