Personally i would just start with a gsr longblock. It would be a lot simpler from the beginning. But if you want ls/vtec here is what i would change on the list.

Get high comp pistons. Yes lower comp means less detonation but it also means less power. Some 9.5:1's will lower the comp enough to where it is safe and still make good power. If you still want it lower throw in a thicker headgasket.

The head: I would get a b18c1 head because you are going to be building it so start with something cheaper. Have it machined ported since it will do a better, more consistent job. Personally i would use stock cams, they will be more than good enough for 500+whp. Upgrade the valve train though so you can rev higher because you will most likely use a big turbo like an sc60-1. It needs time to spool and make power.

Drivetrain: Stock flywheel = good. Get a 6 puck clutch, is the centerforce 6 puck? Get a lsd, a quaife if you have the money or a honda one if you dont. The honda one will hold up pretty well.
