My Z28 was in the shop more than I drove it. I was in the Navy at the time so I would come back from a float and drive the car a couple of days and some shit would break. I sold it after a year and a half and bought my 93' Coupe. Stock, a 280ZX could not hang with a Z28 or 5.0 but all I did was up the boost via manual boost controller and added a custom exhaust.
millhouse, If you ran a high 13 in a basically stock 5.0 then there was something wrong with the track equipment or you are the best damn driver I have ever known because my wifes cousin has a failry heavily modded 5.0 on nitto drags than ran low 13's and a high 12 (once). His 5.0 had a built block , intake manifold, gears, ignition, full exhaust from head to rear, and a bunch of other shit I can't remember. My brother in law owned a 2001 GT for while and I beat him several times in my Maxima SE with bolt-ons. Of course everyone tells me he's a shitty driver but I have seen plenty of high 14 second low 15 second GT's at the track. I have NEVER seen a stock GT break into 13's. I'm not saying it's not possible but until I see it I won't believe it. Oh, and your statement on your F body looking better than my hybrid is laughable at best. IMO, my car is sexy as hell. But if you like F bodies then that's your taste. But to me your car just looks like a stock green firebird. Matter of fact my cousin has a green 1994 T/A and aside from his salad cutter wheels, it looks just like yours. Oh, but just so you know, you would beat my hybrid now because It has a blown head gasket. But it will get new pistons and a new head gasket after christmas.
99+ GT's will run 14.2 with a beginner driver consistantly. Better drivers can break 13's. I'm not going to argue what you've seen and what you haven't seen but 13's are easy for a 99+. FMOS Racing showed a timeslip of his buddy's 99+ AUTOMATIC that ran a high 13 with the air filter cover removed.......I don't remember the thread but I saw the slip.
A low 13 sec Mustang is NOT heavily modified..........because heavily modified and on nitrus will be an 8 or 9 sec pass. What did the guy do....add weight to the block, plug the fuel line and put 2.25's in the rear? The dragstrip guys in the Mustang club I'm in are heavily modified 5.0 302 engines all which run under 10's. Nothing made offshore has beat them yet.
I believe that the Maxima made a good show with bolt-ons because those cars are pretty quick.
