I'd say B18C. If he's planning to build all-motor, the extra torque from the added displacement simply can't be made up. A B16B would have all the Type R advantages (OEM LSD, better cams, higher compression), but most of them can be matched or overcome with aftermarket parts for basically the same money. For the same amount of money spent, I think the B18C would be faster.
