You can only tune as much as you have things that are adjustable. So if the only thing you have that is adjustable is the cam gears, the only thing that can be tuned is the cam timing. If you want to play with fuel maps or VTEC points you will need some kind of device to do that, and that is where the bulk of power gains are made on a dyno.
