Well, First of all, just about any strut or shock is going to be louder in cold weather. So that's not a concern if it only does it when it's cold. Next, consider how old the struts are. If they have over 80K on them they probably just need changed. I don't know what year your car is or anything so I don't know. If they are newer or aftermarket, make sure they are tightened all the way so they aren't hitting the towers when you go over bumps and stuff. If none of that works then maybe the front ones need shorter collars too.
