Turning your VTEC engagement down does not give you more power. In fact, most modded cars benefit from a RAISED VTEC engagement point.
Quite simply, your VTEC lobes are designed to work at a certain RPM and above.
Yes i recently just learned that. I had my vtec controller set to engage at 3800-3900 trying not to go much below 4000 where it is said to not go lower than. But was told and somewhat discovered on my own that i wasn't producing power down there. So i've now turned the engagement point up to 4400-4500 and i can't say for sure that i feel a whole lot of a diff. but i'm sure its a gain that i can't really feel a whole lot. Who knows.
