no we don't. registeration is a flat fee of $40. the rest is the vehicle license fee which is needed to maintain the tens of thousands of miles of road we have in CA.
in fact some of the money goes to the feds and it's used to fix/maintain/build roads in your state so shut the f- up. we're paying for your frigging roads!
