94 accord automatic...Cant Excelerate

ok...i dunno wtf is wrong with my ride but....it just wont excelerate after 20 or 30 miles an hour my rpms just go off the chart if i excelerate...a few days ago it rained hard and i think i got some water in my transmission but would this cause the problem and would just changing the transmission fluid and filter make it work fine again?
