Right, and exactly nothing to with running "VTEC mode", as you would say. VTEC is nothing but more frequent and longer lift of the exhaust and intake valves, associated with higher RPMs, I'm bothered by the way people equate VTEC with engine damage, or fluid consumption (other than gas of course).
