If you look at the guys that drag race their teg's (not the weekend racers but the pro's) they all have LS engines. That is the route i am going. Yet another common misconception.
A stock-internal B18B running the highest safe amount of boost will always make less power than a stock-internal B18C running the highest safe amount of boost. And all that needs to be done to the B18C to make it safe to run more boost (assuming you're not making enough power to over-stress the rods) is to lower the CR to 9.5:1 by swapping in B18B pistons.
Yes, the lower CR of the B18B does make it more forgiving to sloppy tuning with boost but it does not make more power. This is because the B18C head flows far better than the B18B head, and the VTEC switchover still adds to the power even if you're running a turbo.
