You can actually seperate the vss into 2 halves. I will call it the out side half and the inside half. The inside half is what remains in the tranny, but can also be pulled out. The out side half is where the plug will go. I have seen either half go bad. Thats why i asked. When you replaced it, Was what you replaced long and have the plug on one end and a gear on the other, or did it have a plug on one end and a small hole on the other?
Another idea, i have seen the actual vss plug corrode to the point that one or more of the pins fell out. Or the plug comeing off the harness can corrode to the point that the pins will break inside the connector. GENTLY tug on each individual wire, if thats the case, it will slide right out. Cut it off and splice a new one on there.
