Honda transmissions will use either Honda MTF or (as manual stats) A 10w-30, type s/sh grade compliant motor oil. Honda trannies DO NOT AND CAN NOT run with the heavier weight (80-90weight) trans fluids.

To be anal, I have the actual Honda Dealership Service manual from Honda Press and it states to use either 5w30 or 10w30 motor oil which is API rated SF or SG Grade... that's why a number of us have said not to use the MT-90 and to stick w/ Redline MTL which is equal to 5w30/10w30.
So to answer your question, yes I think we have looked in a service manual.
And the cheap ones from Autozone, Discount, Pep Boys, etc. are not all that clear:down:... some say to use gear oil (vague much?)
