I think there will be a truce until Neo dies because it looks like machines put up their best effort to wipe out humanity but Neo stopped them. Neo seems to control both the machines and humanity. I guess they figure its not worth trying again because Neo will just do the same thing. But it is possible for Neo to live forever if he exists in the Matrix. The architect said he will free whoever wants to be freed. I think this means that any human who is not totally reliant on the Matrix to live will be unplugged and anyone whoever cannot be unplugged will stay. If Neo can live forever and controls the machine once the generation of Matrix relaint people is gone the Matrix can be destroyed or vastly reduced. So in this way humanity will eventually regain control and reclaim Earth.
neo is dead. he is not in the matrix. the mind cannot live without the body. no more neo.
