Default so i got a ticket saturday...

i was on the way to forrest hill to put some flowers on my dads grave for all saints day. decided to take the back way (190 to 71 to 112) since it's about a half hour quicker.

i was going about 70 the whole way and into cheneyville, the isuzu rodeo in front of me decides he wants to go approximately 10 miles per hour below the speed limit. as we come away from a stop light, i pull over slightly to the left to check for oncoming traffic and then proceed to pass the vehicle as I exit the non-passing zone. as i went around the rodeo, i noticed a cop off on the left with his light off. that's when i looked down and noticed i was going 48. good, only 3mph over (or i thought). just my luck, the only time i don't fly around a car i'm passig, I get pulled over.

the cop was black. i'm not going to make any race statements, as i have in the past and got flammed, but I think it's very unprofessional for an officer of the law to have "gold teeth." i'm sure everyone here will agree with that. the cop said (before even asking if i know why i was pulled over) that he stopped me for 53 (me: :eek3:) in a 35 (me: ) and passing in a no passing zone (me: :wtf:). I told him straight faced that my speedometer showed an indicated 48mph and I had waited until I was passed the no-passing zone to pass the vehicle. he asked for all my information (license, insurance registration) etc. I told him I had recently purchased the car so the only registration I could give him was the temp tag. he accepted and then went back to his car and proceeded to write out the ticket. he told me "you passed the car 5 feet before the no passing zone ended." thanks guy. . he told me he would "help me out" by not giving me careless operation and not taking my license. i thought you had to be going 20 over for careless op? Anyway, I explained that what my trip was for (bringing flowers to the grave) and we went our separate ways.

i'm considering driving back out there just to see if i was really in a 35mph zone. i asked mel and she thought we were in a 45 also.

any advice from anyone?
