yeah after you remove and replace the shift knob about 3-4 times it will come loose... at the most inopportune time too

which is one of the reasons why i got my aftermarket knob. it has a special patented locking ring and it only takes 2lb of force to remove and replace and lasts the life time of the car

versus 80lb for the stock knob and only 3-4 cycles.
