it's not glued, it's friction fit. they haven't glued it down for over 2 decades.
tony had to since he got a MINI shift knob which has a slightly larger inner diameter.
that m3 at my old work had the knob tiightened down with some black glue crap... it came in loose and stuff and thats what the bmw dealer told the mechaniic to do since there was no threads or anythinig.. :dunno:
