First of all, did you torque the flange nuts to spec? Correct torque settings are 16lb-ft. That definitely is not the sound that you should get. If you get down there and you hear a hiss around that area, you definitely have a leak. Consult the company who you bought the header from, as a gasket should have arrived with it.
