did you do the timing and water pump yourself? There was a bolt missing on the tensioner. I put the bolt on there. did yours have the bolt on there?>>>
I didnt do the timing belt service myself, although I did watch as my mechanic did it. I do not recall him bolting anything, nor do I remember if there was one there or not. Now I wish I paid a bit more attention. Another thought that someone brought up is that could be the alternator maybe. Apparently, they emit the same 'whine' when they are going out. But I don't think mine would have lasted this long (10k miles) if its been 'going bad' for that long...nor do I notice any symptoms of weak charging. I've had several mechanics listen to it, and they all scratch their heads. Most think its the tentioner...others say its the timing belt itself, or the drive belts.
