you don't need to let the car idle down to drive the car on cold mornings. start it ,let it run for about a 1 minute or so to get the oil flowing and drive. the only reason you may want it to get fully warm is so you have heat when you first start driving.

to get it to warm faster though don't put the heat on till the temp starts moving.
