FI Cleaner is like 90% alcohol(sp) so why buy tit for $2-3 when you can use rubbing alchol from wal-mart for $.98 a bottle.
I use rubbing alchol once every 6 months and have no problems. I pour in asmall bottle on half a tank. then fill it up. then runt he tank down to below 1/4, then fill it up. and go from there.
It will clean the FI better then any cleaner you can buy and it will burn just slightly hotter for a few days and clean the sparkplugs and the rest of the fuel system.
Anyways. thats my $.02 I have been doing it for 5 years now and have had no problems.
BTW if you do this a bottle of rubbing alchol will have a % number on it. get the highest % you can find. I have found no higher then 97%
Not to bust you on this idea but not all fuel components of a gasoline engine car are compatible with alcohol. I'm concerned because my college's engineering project involved turning a gas engine into an E85-compatible one. Granted, you're not using that rubbing alcohol very often but I wonder if the additives in those fuel system cleaners help make that alcohol compatible in gas engines. Plus, what if the alcohol is just an inert product and the 10% of the product is what does the cleaning? I'm not a chemical engineer but how do we know alcohol's what's cleaning these injectors anyway?
