I'm a little confused here. You live in SoCal but you need an all season tire? It snows there?

None of the tires that have been mentioned by people so far is an all season tire except for the Ziex 512.

I would go for those in size 205/50-15 which is a more common replacement for OEM than 205/55-15. Like randomtask said, the sidewall height is given in the tire size as a percentage of the width (called "series") so you need to go to a lower series tire if you go to a wider width. One other all season tire worth lookin at is the Dunlop SP Sport 5000. They run $102 a pop in 205/50-15 from tirerack.com.

Either tire would be a good choice for what you say you need and a definite improvement over stock.
