Most aftermarket springs have a higher rate than factory. If you had the same spring rate with a lower ride, you would get enough suspension travel to slam the bump-stop all the time. To correct this, they increase the rate of the spring. Most factory strut are made set rate. If you add a spring with 100+ pound increase over factory, your strut cannot control this. aka BOUNCY RIDE. Will not control dampening or re-bound. If you call around, you can find a strut that is close to the rate of spring that you want to run. Also the travel of the piston inside the strut is a factor. Hope this helps.
