I think I saw a CV boot kit that can be mounted with out removing
the axle... it just wraps around the joint. That would be a very
cheap and easy solution, it you are sure the joint is still good.
I'm told that sometimes when the joint goes, it can rip the boot
from the inside out. I had always belived the reverse. i.e, You
rip your boot, lose your grease, metal on metal and the joint
goes. Just make sure the joint is good. Your not experiencing
any clicking are you?
I always just repalce the entire axle, unless of course I were
to rip the boot on a reasonably new axle from dragging it on
something . But thats never happened to me yet. Any Idea
how old your axles are?
I've drove w/ ripped boots on my beater civic for 6mo before.
I just made sure they were greased. I'm by no means telling
you not to repair them, you should get that fixed asap.
But I wouldn't sweat it, if your gonna get them done in the
near future and the joints not clicking.
