Apexi N1 Universal Muffler
Has anyone tried to install one of these. I was looking to by just the rear section from the rear wheel back but they don't offer one for my ride so the only other option was to buy the universal one and have it hung by a muffler shop. I don't want to get the cat back package because I have a JDM H22 and they don't match up to the civics cat back setups so I will need custom piping anyhow. I know I could get the cat back and fill the gap between the cat back and the JDM's down pipe with a custom cat but I would rather just have custom piping all the way back.
Anyhow, I'm not really concerned with the actual installation since it will all be done with custom piping. I'm more concerned with the sound. On the Apexi web site they warn of sound variances based on resonators and piping diamaters. Here's a quote from their site:
"Sound levels must be controlled through piping diameter and the effective use of resonators. Please consult your local tuner or muffler shop for advice on sound level tuning."
Basically I want to know if anyone has installed one of these and how it sounds or the best way to produce the lowest possible noise. I know the N1's by nature are loud but I don't want it too loud.
I really want the Apexi WS because it is super sleeper and produces good mid range and high end power but they don't sell the rear section for that either, all they sell is the entire cat back which I can't afford right now. The N1 universal (muffler only) is only $199 so if I can install that without it being too loud I may settle on the N1 rather than the WS that I really want.
Anyhow, I'm done rambling, any advice would be appreciated
