Default did my fuel pump die?

Ok, so here is what happened. . .

Ive noticed my car hesitating when i hit the gas a little bit all week. . . today i was leaving work and starting up the highway at close to WOT and the engine just died. . .rolled to a stop, started up with some minor difficulty, took off again, died again. . .this repeated itself with more difficulty restarting each time for about 4 miles to my house. I pulled the car in the driveway, opened the hood, disconnected the battery to reset the ECU. . .reconnected and tried to start. The starter cranks over fast and smooth like its supposed to but I get no ignition. I'm thinking this could be a few things. . .

-burning oil and my spark plugs are too covered with shit to ignite
or
-my fuel pump died and i have no fuel pressure

I am guessing its the second one because the way the engine cut out isnt consistent with a bad plug or a dead O2 sensor, it didnt fade or sputter or anything, it just stopped. . .

any feedback on this would be great. Im going to call the dealer in an hour or so and make a service appointment for monday. . .might have to have AAA tow me there =(
