Of course a little jealousy is OK... but it all depends on the situation. Everyone wants not only to look perfect like the models, but they also want to be the perfect satisfier for their mate... thus, when he makes a comment like that, it reminds you that there is still room to go in that you could be _that much better_...
But yeah, usually when a good guy says something like that, it's more analytical than anything...
Well, if I were to say something like "That girl's hot" etc... an ideal female IMO would respond with something like a "Tough... you're gonna have to settle with just me" (With a grin). This response to me would suggest the girl's confident in her own strengths, shows that she was paying attention to my intent, not the perceived action, and would deviously draw my attention away from the distracting female...
